Skyline Combined School opened its doors in January 2015 as a High School with 18 learners and a staffing complement of 8 teachers and 3 support staff. The two-storey building was far too big for the first intake of pupils so the top floor remained unused in the first year.
The school is located in Roodepoort CBD neighboured by our feeder zones of Horizon, Princess, matholesvile, Kagiso, Randfontein, Cresswell Park, Bramfischerville, Dobsonville, Witportjie, Florida but very different from all the surrounding schools.
To-date the school has 660 pupils. The school also boasts a Drama Society, Reading Society, Science Club, Chess, Literacy Society, Debating, Athletics, Tennis, Soccer, Netball and Singing.
In 2018 was our first matric class. Today the school employs thirty-two educators through school fees paid by parent(s)/guardian(s) and hire services of a Social Worker. We intend to bring on board a Psychologist to help with learner and staff challenges. Many past and present pupils will tell of how Discipline is emphasized at school. We endeavour to instill moral which a good fibre to our society at every corner of the school.
Today we can be very proud of our school and its achievements. Skyline Combined School’s academic, sporting, cultural and service offering provides a holistic education to each learner who joins the school. Qualified educators strive for academic excellence and the school has a reputation for its sporting successes, excellence in visual and performing arts and a disciplined, firm and fair environment that enables learning and the establishment of life-long friendships among learners.
Learners are encouraged to become involved in the school and have ample opportunity to participate in activities that suit their specific needs and interests. They are provided with an all-round education that will help to prepare them for further tertiary studies and the world of work.
But, most importantly, we have a school where people care and where teachers go the extra mile to make the difference in our lives.
